CHESS
Andrea Botez’s journey through the chess world began early. She first learned the game at just six years old and started competing in official U.S. Chess Federation tournaments by the time she was seven. Her early promise quickly turned into success when, in 2010, she captured the Under-8 Girls title at the Canadian Youth Chess Championship.
By 2015, at only thirteen, Andrea had already carved out a reputation as one of Canada’s brightest young talents. That year she became the Women’s British Columbia Chess Champion and went on to win the Susan Polgar National Open, marking her emergence on the North American chess scene.
In 2016, she continued to impress at major youth tournaments—finishing fourth in the SPFNO U14 Girls division and 13th in the Susan Polgar Foundation Girls’ Invitational.
Over the years, Andrea has steadily improved her game while expanding her influence beyond the board. She reached her peak FIDE classical rating of 1906 in 2024 and achieved her highest US Chess rating of 1933 in 2019. As of January 2025, she maintains a FIDE rating of 1837, placing her among the tens of thousands of active international competitors who keep the spirit of chess thriving around the world.

Together with her sister Alexandra, Andrea Botez co-hosts the massively popular Twitch channel BotezLive, a hub where chess meets comedy, gaming, and real-world banter. By mid-2022, the channel had already attracted over 1.1 million followers and accumulated more than 18 million total views, cementing the Botez sisters as two of the most influential figures in the modern chess-streaming world.
Andrea officially joined her sister’s streaming efforts in 2020, lending her vibrant personality and competitive edge to both their Twitch broadcasts and their rapidly growing YouTube channel, which surpassed 800 thousand subscribers and 140 million total views around the same time.
After taking a gap year to dedicate herself fully to content creation, Andrea decided to make streaming her career — transforming from a rising chess prodigy into a full-time entertainer and digital powerhouse who continues to expand the global reach of chess through humor, authenticity, and creativity.

Creator Clash 2
In April 2023, Andrea stepped into the boxing ring for Creator Clash 2, a charity boxing event organized by YouTuber iDubbbz. She faced off against fellow content creator Michelle Khare in one of the event’s most anticipated bouts. Despite her fierce determination and athletic background, Andrea ultimately lost the match. Nevertheless, her participation showcased her willingness to step outside her comfort zone, entertain her fans, and support a charitable cause through an entirely new arena.
Mogul Chessboxing Championship
Earlier, in December 2022, Andrea took part in the Mogul Chessboxing Championship, an innovative hybrid competition hosted by streamer Ludwig Ahgren. The event combined alternating rounds of chess and boxing, testing both mental and physical endurance. Andrea faced Woman Grandmaster Dina Belenkaya in a thrilling match that initially ended in controversy when Belenkaya was declared the winner. However, after a post-fight review, officials determined that Andrea should have been awarded a technical knockout (TKO) following the referee’s fourth standing count. The decision was later revised, officially declaring both competitors as co-winners — a fitting outcome for a match that balanced intellect, strength, and showmanship.
