Talent Time Training Motivation Mindset Money

TTTMMM – talent, time, training, motivation, mindset and money. Apparently, you need those six elements in order to succeed in any venture.

Here’s my personal evaluation of myself on those 6 ingredients.

Talent

On this one, I am not sure. Apart from playing 5-card draw as a child and trying to make a living with online poker. I’ve never been a player and a gamer. I always thought it was a waste of time and I just wasn’t interested. As for my poker forray, it never went pass the free games. If you couldn’t beat the free games you won’t beat the penny games. I wasn’t able to be dominant at free games. So putting money into this wasn’t a good idea. Furthermore, I have too much respect for money to put it at risk in poker.

However, as a naturally gifted drawer, I can easily visualize anything I want. Which is certainly a plus in the Royal Game.

I almost forgot to mention… I’m a 50 years old noob who barely known how the pieces moved before getting into this Journey. But I don’t feel that my age is a disadvantage at all to learn Chess.

Time

As a self-employed entrepreneur, I own all my time. I’m a loner. I have no children, no girlfriend, no friends and I wouldn’t want it any other way. I’m living with my aging mother, she’s lucid and in good health, but she needs me to be there with her. And we have a dog and a cat, both rescued pets.

But, unfortunately, with my last business venture being a failure. Running out of money was a terrible issue. Until I’ve wsold some personal belongings that should keep my afloat for the year.

Training

I think I have concocted the perfect study plan. The perfect mixture of Classical Chess, Correspondence Chess, Chess Puzzles, Blindfold Chess, even meditation, healthy lifestyle, and adequate sleep. Just like a pro athlete.

But I insist on remaining self-taugh. Anyway, I’m so hard-headed that I’m probably uncoachable.

Motivation

More than four months into my Journey, I’m more motivated than ever. But as I’ve always believed. Motivation ain’t shit. Discipline is what matter. In my case, I have trained and played diligently everyday into my Journey.

Mindset

Damn! I’m completely obesesssed by Chess. Playing it, learning it, and writing about it! Mindset? Well, what I lack in experience and knowledges I have in killer instinct and fighting spirit.

Money

The big equalizer which, in my case, is directly related to time. No Money, no time. If you have no money you’ll be obligated to use your time to do something to get money. No choice, unless you’re financially independent or you have enough runway (money in the bank) to run for at least a full year. See “time” above.

Overall, I think I have a good note and good odds to succeed. The journey is just as important as the destination.
